The Portuguese Pointer Club of America was founded in 2005. The PPCA's mission is to:
- promote and encourage the preservation of the Portuguese Pointer
- Do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging participation and sportsmanship in conformation shows and field events.
- Urge members, breeders and judges to accept the standard of the breed as the only standard of excellence by which the Portuguese Pointers shall be judged.
- Provide educational forums on the care, training and breeding of Portuguese Pointers as well as hosting matches, shows and field events.
- Assist in a rescue service for displaced Portuguese Pointers
